Shared Song - The Feelers - Right Here, Right Now

To help build our reading comprehension, we are looking at a song and using different reading strategies to help us to understand what the song is about.

We have listened to the song and predicted what we think the song is about. Over the next week, we will be listening to the song and looking at each verse and trying to work out what each verse means. Some of the skills we will be using are: re-reading, inferencing, visualising, building our vocabulary and improving our dictionary skills.

Here is a link to the song, so that you can listen to it at home:

Geometric Tangram Art

Our art project for this term, has been to create a Tangram Geometric piece of art.
A tangram is a square that has been divided into seven shapes. We used these shapes to create an object. Some children made animals, some buildings, others people.
We have painted the background of our artwork using either hot or cold colours. If we used cold colours in the background, we then had to use hot colours for our tangram. We used a sponge to add texture when painting our tangrams.
Next week, we will put our tangram together on our background to complete our artwork.

Tessellations

Today in maths we learnt about tessellations. These are when you cover a surface using a pattern of shapes so that there are no gaps. We made our own tessellation and made a tessellation template, so that we can make our own patterns next week.

You can look at the Maths Is Fun website so some more information:

Manasa, Sasha, Connor and Max.

Jaykuz, Luke, Jacob and Xavier.

Zac, Kalanei, Cody and Kevin.

Symphony, Olivia, Ezra and Annabel.

These are our tessellated patterns.
