Reading Group - Hortons

This week the Horton Reading Group were reading a piece of procedural writing. Our aim was to be able to understand and follow the instructions so that we could complete our Corn Husk People.

Term 1, Week 9 Notices

Thanks Olivia and Kayla for the notices for next week. It is the last week of term, and a short week, Term 2 starts back on Monday 20th April.

Recycle Refuse Transfer Station

This trip was an eye opener. Just to see the quantities of rubbish that we produce is astounding.

We spent time in the classroom learning about how glass, plastic, aluminium and tin are recycled. The children came up with some awesome questions about this process, they definitely had their thinking hats on. We then got our safety gear on and went for a walk around the dump to see the array of different items that ended up there. 

We finished our trip by exploring the classroom garden, where everything has been made from recycled parts. They have discovered some very creative ways to reuse unwanted equipment.

Special Visitors

This afternoon we had some special visitors. Jayden brought in her friends Bearded Dragon and Luka brought in his Leopard Gecko's. We delighted in seeing these reptiles up close and some brave people, even patted and held them.
